Best Buy IdeaX

It'd be great if... we could get a decent upgrade. I am an employee for Best Buy and I cannot tell you how many times I have had a customer call in and the computer is slow or just plain STOPS (or worse closes me right out of everything). How about an upgrade? No more dinosaur computers. We represent top of the line electronics but work with less than is socially acceptable. Please.

The reviews are hardly ever relevant. We should be able to rely on the customer reviews for additional product specifications and insights.

It'd be great if... The store hours were a little more accurate. (maybe not neccessarily during holidays but) there are too many stores that have incorrect hours of operation posted on the site.

You have the two extremes. You have the video game and DVD department with 5 or 6 floor staff milling around constantly asking if I need help and then you have the computer, television and camera departments with one employee trying to assist 10 customers, all asking questions at the same time. Why not have floater staff moving from one department to another, fluent in various product knowledge...

It'd be great if... in the product panel I could eliminate characteristics that i do NOT want my item to posses

Please educate Best Buy employees about this site. I have spoken to several and they have no idea what this site is or why it is valuable.

It would be great if Best Buy could have mobile checkout cashiers, borrowing from the Apple Store a bit, with handheld devices to check out shoppers looking to purchase with a Credit Card. Just have the receipt printer up at the Loss Prevention desk. On really busy days one or two cashiers could even go into the long lines to check out customers on the spot.

I think this site is very useful, but wonder why it's not on the front page of the Best Buy website? Best Buy should feature it more prominently on the website. Perhaps a feature break out on the front page, or at least some sort of link similar to the "we'll call you back" at the bottom of the other pages.

It would be great if best buy implemented a layaway plan. If not for all year round at least the holidays. It would be awesome if i could put that cherry red lg washer in layaway in oct and have it out by dec for christmas for my wife. It would also be great if when i put items into layaway i had the choice of either, pick up in store or delivery or best of all an option to have the items shipp...

offer a bonus (aside the GoodMaintainanceReward) for the mere purchase of BlackTie Service/Replacement Plans

It'd be great if... Customers could redeem RZ percentage coupons for phone/online. That's an extra hassle customers could do without; especially when this comes to items "available online only".

I would like to see Best Buy create the "GreenSquad", like GeekSquad but for green products, service, and installation. They could install solar panels, and other energy products for homes in the local are of the store. Seems like this is something that Best Buy would be very interested in.

One of the things I find redundant and slightly annoying is the process of giving the clerk my phone number in front of (and ear shot of) all of the other customers in line so that my purchases can be linked to my RewardZone account. This has actually resulted in someone I do not know calling me after "over hearing" my number. I would like to see Best Buy link my credit card to this information...

Unfortunately, even though Best Buy employees try to help all their customers they all aren’t always helped. If there was an interactive station which includes: LCD touch screen, speakers, mic, headset, and more. This will allow the customer to get the best experience possible. With all Reward Zone members: When we go to check out, in stores, with our reward zone card or phone number, it not only give us points for our purchase, but it automatically takes off, or brings up, any reward zone coupons and certificates that we have in the packages grey box (on the register monitor) at the end of our sale that gives us the option to choose to use or save up our reward zone ...

It'd be great if... Everything was possible for customers to actually do after hours. So many departments close after hours it can barely be considered 24 hour customer service. Whether it's 1-2 people from every department or giving the phone representatives a little more leeway to help out with order editting/cancelling, installations, reward zone, etc

It would be great if you guys could expand the 'Apple Computer' section of Best Buy stores. The ones in Austin have the basic models, but the accessories section is a little sparse. It would be nice to see Best Buy offer competitive prices on things like GDrives, and other "traditionally Apple" accessories. Just like Twelpforce does for the whole company, I believe if we had a Instant Messaging system (sort of like AIM etc.) for our Sales Operators in a store to store based assistance, it would help drive the efficiency of the number of customers we help and also take another step towards broadening our technology expertise.

It would great to see an instant messaging feature on the site to easily communicate on products and services. It's sometimes easier to explain products and provide links to the customer service reps over IM chat. I think this would make most online shopping a lot easier for a lot of people.
