  <title>Reward Zone Points Redemption</title>
  <description>Attach 'gift certificates' attained with a Reward Zone card directly to the card that each individual has, so when it's scanned at the register it will automatically apply discounts. This will eliminate waste/cost involved in mailing them or the hassle of having to print them out. Will create more positive brand resonance with those that already hold Best Buy near and dear. Make things easier for your best customers - and they'll love you back.</description>

        I can certainly imagine a cashier hitting a button that uses my certificate points when I don't want to use them, thereby causing me more problems.
        I'd rather be in control of when I use my accumulated points. I can also imagine someone stealing my card and using my points without my knowledge.
        I disagree with this idea.

      <text>@ConEdisonEgg - Perhaps you could give users the choice to link the option of redeeming available certificates to a specific payment source. Since Bestbuy already religiously checks ID, this would provide a solid opt-in extra level of safety.</text>

      <text>This would be very similar to the Kroger Card or Randall's Card(regional grocers). As you use the card it keeps track of your purchases and once you reach $100 you get 10¢ off per gallon on your next gas purchase. Even if you don't rack up a $100 in purchases you still get 3¢ off gasoline just for having the shopper card. One minor difference is that you get discounted prices if you scan your shopper card at checkout.</text>

      <text>Thanks for the post s_foy. I got a response from our Reward Zone team, and they are currently working on some new methods of certificate redemption—particularly with our Silver membership level. They will be testing out a couple of ideas over the next several months to see how members like them. As always, your comments and the IdeaX community votes will help us figure out how to keep improving the program. Keep them coming!</text>

        @JP - Best Buy does not religiously check ID. They don't ask me when I pay with cash, so the extra level of safety you suggest is not 100%.
        Regarding linking the option of redeeming to a specific payment source; that sounds nice until I need to use a different source and cannot redeem the certificates anymore (there is a lag between updating online and the in-store servers so I would have to make the change and then wait a day or more).

        I still don't like this.

      <text>Dicks Sporting Goods does a great job with their loyalty, points and redemption. For every couple hundred points, they send me a $10 gift certificate plus coupons and bonus point coupons. I did an analysis. My Dicks spending has increased by almost 25% after joining the program a year ago. Lesson to learn here?</text>

      <text>
        ConEdisonEgg - why would someone need to check your ID if you used cash. they do religiously check ID - when you're using a form of payment that requires an ID. I think the point that JP was trying to make was something along the lines of this...

        Go to register. Give cashier your phone number. It pulls up your account. Your account says 'member must present photo ID'. This will stand true no matter what form of payment you were using. And if you were stupid enough to drive to a store to buy something cash without having your drivers license on you, that's your problem.

        If you don't like it because you don't like it, that's one thing. But to say you don't like it because of x, y and z is silly. You can make up a million excuses why you don't like something, but just say you don't like it instead of making up stupid reasons that can be fought.

        I agree with the &quot;asking before redeeming the accumulated points. I'm a silver member and I'm currently saving up my points. Wouldn't want them redeemed before I'm ready to use them!
        Other than that, attaching the points is a great idea.

      <text>
        I was just recently signed up for Rewards Zone and I am disappointed. I was only signed up because I made a large purchase and would get a decent amount of points per the customer service person that helped me. HOWEVER...I was unaware that it would take almost a month to be able to redeem these &quot;rewards&quot;. Due to this wait, Best Buy has just lost a sale that I would have used my rewards towards. I am not a frequent customer of Best Buy so had not other wised looked into the program or signed up for it earlier. Because of this lag in redemption, it will affect my future purchases with Best Buy. I would like to recommend that users of this program be able to redeem their rewards sooner than 30+ days; maybe 7 would be more appropriate and would possibly be comparable to other rewards and points programs out there.

        Thank you.

      <text>
        I like the idea; but, I want the option to apply the discount rather than it being automatically applied at the time of checkout.

        Lets say I buy a PS3, 10 games, and 3 controllers. RZ points stack up quickly, and I get an account credit of $30. I go back to BB and pickup a CD that really interests me, but its only $8.99.

        In a month, I also know I'm going to need a new TV, so I want to apply that $30 to the TV then, rather than the $21.01 I would have had.

        Catch my drift?

        Also; stop setting the expiration dates of my RZ bonuses so short. By the time I can use them, they're worthless. If this BB idea is implemented, set either NO EXPIRATION, or a realistic timeframe (like 1 or 2 YR).

      <text>Also; stop setting the expiration dates of my RZ bonuses so short. By the time I can use them, they're worthless. If this BB idea is implemented, set either NO EXPIRATION, or a realistic timeframe (like 1 or 2 YR).</text>

      <text>This is a must. I mean it's simple enough to execute but still hasn't been done. Once points are attached directly to the card then you could come up with ways to automate the redemption of points.</text>

      <text>That would be a good idea for BB.</text>

      <text>I do like the general idea of this. You go check out and you give your card to spend and the employee tells you that you have $10 in rewards points on it would you like to use it or keep saving it. Nice, convenient.</text>

      <text>I only like that idea IF you have the option of choosing whether to use the rewards. I don't want my certificates to automatically be applied to a purchase. If the user can choose, then it is a great idea!</text>
