It'd be great if... in the product panel I could eliminate characteristics that i do NOT want my item to posses

I think what anndee is trying to get across is that we need a tool for selecting features that you do not want. For example, say i wanted to look at internal hard drives online. Bestbuy.com will bring up a list of features on the left of the screen that will include rpm's. What she would like is a tool to say that she does NOT want to look at anything spinning at 5400rpm. This would be a little easier to use than having to select 7200, and then 10000 in different tabs.

For instance if you were looking at Side-by-Side refrigerators, and didn't want an Ice-Maker. That is a hard thing to find on BestBuy.com. If I could say that I didn't want that feature I could find that item in about 30 seconds, under the current system it takes a long time looking though 300 fridges.

This can come up in most departments, depending on what you are looking at. Sometimes there are tricks like organizing by price, but other times you just have to search the manual way.

I totally agree with this idea.
