I have been with Best Buy for about 6 weeks now. I think it would be great for employees to be able to access the toolkit from home. I understand there are things on there that dont need to be accessed from home such as OMS or FMS but I think accessing the majority of the other applications would be a great help to the employees. I know that this week my schedule got changed and I found out that I worked the opening shift the next day just because I glanced at my calendar before logging out of TLC. If nothing else, being able to access TLC from home would be AWESOME!!! If thats not possible, maybe an email alert if your schedule is changed?

I know at Target we have an employee website that we log in with our employee number and password. We can view our paychecks sign up or change our direct deposit, view our benfients, change or add personal information like a phone number etc.
Flag as inappropriatebut some pages are unavailable (like our schedule) due to the pages being on Targets server at the store (meaning we can only access it from the store)
Not sure how Best buy does it, but I do like the idea of the e-mail. thats only fair to the employee or even a simple phone call or reminder to the employee face to face.

TLC from home would be awesome... .Chris: we can access stuff like HR things from home or sign on to use the @twelpforce service, but the thing we use the most is TLC (Time & Labor Center), RSS (our stock checking system), and OMS (doing in-store pickups and such). All this is accessable through a computer in store we call a toolkit. There are many more things, but we wouldn't have any use for them at home.
Flag as inappropriateI think having TLC and Employee Price Check would be awesome.

But perhaps theres a reason why you cant access that info from home. Too risky of ;leaking the info out

At macy's we were able to access most of our information from home, in fact it was prefered. As stated above, TLC would be a great tool to be able to utilize at home at the very least.

I DEFINITELY agree! Of course there is no need to even have certain aspects of the toolkit, but being able to acess your schedule from home would be fantastic.

An email for your schedule would be great. Since BBY frowns on using computers for personal reasons I can't email myself my schedule or update my online calendar. I have to write it down on a slip of paper and hope I don't lose it before I get home.

I can see it maybe being a security risk to access TLC from home. I'd be happy if I just got a weekly email with my schedule.

I say allow TLC, and OWA (for everyone, not just supervisors+) from home. But we dont need to access anything else, as it wouldnt apply, or is a security risk.

they give us learning lounge at home.... Aka work off the clock... They say check email and schedule on the clock only but if I am checking email or schedule etc at work I get lectured that i am doing a disservice to customers, please check on ur lunch, but wait I'm off the clock.. Hmm... I do not see the security risk from email through outlook web access and then implementing a schedule that sends to your work email. News flash for employees and supervisors+, checking email is not work really so no need to clock in to check email. Especially if I've just come off a vacation and wqnt to know my schedule. Currently i have to go all the way to the store and login when preferably i and all other people would Like to just pull in at the House and login or have it come to our smart phones. If it is okay to do e-learning's aka "training" off the clock then it is okay to read email which should include weekly schedules so toolkit can stay secure because oms ams etc shouldn't be open out of the store and allowing TLC would leave "backdoor concerns" and I can see that

I used to work at applebee's and currently starting at best buy - Again (Different state, woohoo!) - when I left the Applebees back home they were starting where they would post your schedule on a secure site, you couldn't clock in or anything from it, but you could view your schedule and send it straight to your outlook calendar, or android, or iphone (which didn't apply to us in ND) - but something like that would be awesome - and if the schedule got changed it would send you a text with the updated shift, and it would text you when your schedule got posted (and it would send a reply text as soon as you checked your updated shift so your managers would know you looked and can't lie about it)....its kinda funny, a restaurant has that technology but a technology retail store doesn't. I kind of got accustomed to it...I think BBY needs to look into that, as it would be paperless and "green", instead of having workers print off their schedules from TLC and waste 2 sheets of paper....just saying...like our best buy - close to 200 employees - thats 400 sheets of paper a week from them printing their schedules - that is if they only print off one and don't need two (like if they have separated parents) - So on average - Saving 1600 sheets of paper a MONTH!...
