Exactly. Where did you get the idea that BB still uses mail in rebates? They have been using the Instant Rebate for years.

I work at a best buy, the only time we've have a mail-in rebate for a year was a student discount with Apple for mobile-me and iWork. I know we even match competitors for just taking the money off right then.

The point of most Mail-In-Rebates are because of the manufacturer. As I see from my point of view, Best Buy has no to a little bit of mail in rebates. I would hold the vote for now.

oh my god, this guy is the man, this is probably 80% of why people dont believe in the mail in rebate they either think its never going to come or they dont even want to deal with it... if you guys could deal with them and just have them credit your store and you guys front them. you would be making A LIFE CHANGING CHOICE,..one the rebates would look amazing and catch the eye more than two different rebates..
Flag as inappropriateget this in man this would make your rebates look like you guys give the best deals if you did all the mail in rebate issues.

Actually mail in rebate is very important in terms of revenue. Of course mail in rebate is a hassle but its where they get you. If you're paying $199,99 on an Evo 4g and you become enticed by the wonder of the phone chances are you'll forget the mail in rebate. However, if you don't forget to do it they still got your money either way. Sly marketing and profiteering is all I got to say.

I am not fond of mail-in rebates. But I use them to save money. And as a 46 year-old person I can tell you that I have got many years behind me where I cannot ever remember when one was not processed. And I am an anal-retentive sort who keeps track of these kinds of things. So the claim that "customers are frustrated by the lack of not getting back rebates in the mail" does not hold water for me. I think that if the original poster is speaking honestly then he could say that customers are frustrated to have to do the paperwork for the rebate. But to say that it is not processed is not accurate in my experience.

Please at least try to understand why there are mail in rebates. It's either mail in rebates or none at all. There is no replacement.
Flag as inappropriatePlus, I don't recall ever having to deal with this at Best Buy. Ever.
I understand the frustration, but it's not going away for a while.
